I Want To Participate

From the time a child/family begins the study, data will be collected every six months until the child is 4 years old. You and your child will spend two to three hours at the test site every six months and will be paid $50 for each session. During the session, samples of you and your child’s interaction will be recorded on digital videotapes; your child will be given standard tests of language and reasoning; and you will be interviewed and will complete some standard checklists concerning your child’s behavior. All tests are simple and non-invasive.

Hearing loss can delay a child's speech and language development. We are working on ways to change that.  Children with hearing loss (in both Spoken-Only and Sign-Supported programs) and children with normal hearing that use Baby Signs born between August 2002 and June 2004 are still needed for participation in this study.
